Rekindling Patriotism

To spread the feeling of patriotism and to celebrate our 71st Independence day, a  programme was organized which was dedicated to our brave heroes who have laid down their lives  for us. We were fortunate to have Major General Christopher Emanuel Fernandes  as our chief guest for this programme. Students from different schools were also invited for this function.

The programme began with the  lighting of the lamp to  invoke Gods presence .It was followed by  the primary students who  dressed  as different freedom fighters of our country. They emphasized the important values of peace, love, equality and unity in our motherland. A poem titled ‘The Indian Soldier ’ was then recited by the students to help the students realize the courage and sacrifices that our Indian soldiers  endure. The students  truly inspired us to go and make a difference in the world  through their dance performance.

Keeping the spirit of unity and harmony alive , a bhajan and a prayer dance was performed by the secondary students. To help bring in a patriotic fervor the inter school band competition winners  and our very own  Stanislites  performed a few patriotic songs and kept the audience entertained with their energetic performance. The girls of St Joseph’s Convent left the audience fascinated and awe-struck with their amazing dance performance on the song  Vande Mataram .

The main highlight  of the programme was a performance by  The 7th Sikh regiment pipe band which was headed by their  Conductor Company Havildar  Major Jaswinder Singh. This band plays essentially for the army, to motivate and encourage the armed forces in the time of war. Our students were also very fortunate to witness the Sikh band perform

The chief guest then addressed the gathering followed by a vote of thanks given by our principal Tr Anna.  As a mark of respect to our country the function was then concluded by the Sikh band performing the National Anthem along with a student representative from each school joining the band to sing our national anthem to honour our country.
