St Stanislaus pays homage to famous alumni Leo Pinto
Students of the St Stanislaus High School Bandra observed a minute's silence when school opened on Wednesday morning as homage to a famous alumni,India's oldest surviving Olympian, Leo Pinto, who passed away at the age of 96 on Tuesday.Later a few schoolboys carried the school flag and created an arch of hockey sticks as the coffin was taken from St Francis D'Assisi Church to the St Peters seaside cemetery.
At the mass, Fr Jude Fernandes SJ, Principal of St Stanislaus, Pinto's Alma Mater, said the player with his Olympiad deeds, had vindicated the school's motto, `Natus Ad Majora' which meant 'Born for Greater Things'.
After the service Pinto's granddaugher read a tribute recalling her grandfather's genial nature. No wonder the church was full, as if entire Bandra had turned up.Before the body was lowered into the grave the students of St Stanislaus and their sports director Hycinth Cardoz , sang the schools anthem after which the people paid respects to daughter Susan and son Darryl.
A host of sportsfolk from Tata Sports Club led by billiards ace Mike Ferreira, Anu D'Cruz, Apanna, Gilbert and Clarence Lobo and players of a later era like Diago D'Souza were present. Ferreira summed up the feelings of the players when in his tribute he said, "I had the good fortune of being with Leo Pinto for a long time during my job with Tomco and again when Pinto worked with the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra. I never ever saw him sad." From Hockey Olympians of the 60s like Kulwant Arora, to those of later years like Mervyn Fernandes, Joaquim Carvalho(a Stanislite), Mir Ranjan Negi,Viren Rasquinha (a Stanislite) and Dhanraj Pillay were there to lift the coffin
Negi remarked, "Even in death his face retains an unmistakable shine." Rasquinha said, "Whenever I met him he was always positive." Dhanraj Pillay said he would take youngsters to Pinto's house to make them aware of India's greatness in the sport.

X-CITING XPERIENCE WITH XSEED
At St. Stanislaus, we believe in providing the child with a well-rounded learning experience. Hence, we have adopted XSEED a learning curriculum. Children learn by experience thereby, giving him a strong foundation for life.
In the XSEED method, children are encouraged to write in their own words instead of copying from a book or blackboard. The reason behind this is to help the children become independent thinkers and writers.
The year began with Std. I exploring the theme ME AND MY BODY. Through classroom experiences, children began to be aware of their body and learned to appreciate the fact that each one of us is special and unique.
Through the exciting theme of FOOD WE EAT, Std II learned about healthy food, discovered the sources of food, explored the goodness of a healthy meal and planned their daily diet.
Std. III began investigating and taking care of different INSECTS. Some of the insects they observed transformed completely like changing from egg to caterpillar to crystallize to a butterfly. Children will be made to understand the interdependence of living organisms.
Practical teaching is beneficial for both the teacher and the students since it makes learning easier and interesting

Inauguration of St.Peter’s K.G.
Though it was not cool, at summer time we prepared for our new school
After all the sweat and toil
Came 16th July, the long awaited special day
That eventually made its way ,
To one and all
Friday morning 16th July, around 10.30am seen a heavy downpour, however this did not cause any hindrance as our guest arrived on time inspite of the heavy rains. There was a spirit in the air, a feeling that was shared by all present – a feeling of joy, excitement ,enthusiasm and anticiaption. It was a day that marked a new beginning at St.Peters K.G.
The day commenced with the inauguration ceremony – the cutting of the ribbon that unlocked the keys for all to enter by Respected principal Fr. Jude and Fr.Juan. What a wonderful moment it was indeed , eagerly awaited by one and all. Smiles and joy filled the corridors as our main guest walked by the classrooms all creatively set up for the little children.
A few steps to climb up and there was something magical awaiting. The well done up three classrooms opened up one by one to the beat of a magical wand and to the musical tune it must be magic magic magic leading one and all to the three classrooms which opened to a big hall.
The morning began with a prayer service , to invoke God’s blessing on us, our parents and our children to come. This was followed by an entertainment programme put up by the enthusiastic teachers of the junior and senior K.G.
The principal Fr.Jude in his speech focussed on the Jesuit Vision and Mission and emphasized that quality education need not be restricted only to a certain class of society but can be made available to the masses at a reasonable cost.
An important message that was highlighted and conveyed by the principal was that Change is constant and we at St.Peters need to consistently move on and BE THE CHANGE. There was a well prepared presentation that depicted the change from the Old to the new. Refreshments and mouth watering snacks were served while everyone enjoyed looking at the presentation.
Finally, the beautiful morning was summed up by a vote of thanks by the headmistress Tr.Mayrose. Everyone was in smiles and left the hall with a feeling of joy ,contentment and anticipation to a new academic year.
Indeed it was a special and memorable day for all at St.Peter’s K.G.
Suzuki violin training for Stds. I & II
Stanislaus School has organized Suzuki violin training for Stds. I & II only with the help of the tutors from the NCPA (National Centre of Performing Arts). Those students wishing to enroll can do so.
The Suzuki method is a way of learning to play music. In the beginning, learning music by ear is emphasized over reading musical notation. The method also encourages, in addition to individual playing, frequent playing in groups (including playing in unison) and frequent public performance, so that playing is so far as possible natural and enjoyable.
